Takako

She stood frozen on the roof, not daring to open her eyes just yet. Where the deafening torrent of rain had just a moment ago been, there was silence. She still clutched her umbrella, not believing her ears. Steeling herself, she took a breath and opened her eyes, so that she might see for herself. Beneath her was her reflection staring back from the water, with the brilliant blue of a sky with scattered clouds above. The moments passed as she breathed, now scarcely believing even her eyes. But after a time, she smiled and lowered her umbrella, gazing up at the sky in wonder and joy. The rain had finally passed.
